Hitchhike around India, Just for Fun

Hitchhiking has been the way that people have chosen to see India for many decades. In recent years though hitchhiking has been increasingly less popular due to young people’s concern for their safety and for the potential for danger. Young people are increasingly travelling substantially further afield, choosing to head to Asia or Australia and New Zealand on some round the world journey rather than staying close to home and learning about their neighbours in a much more sustainable way.
And it’s a very sad occurrence. There’s no reason not to hitchhike these days. And if I’m honest I think I’d say that with so many fewer people trying to hitchhike each year, your chance of waiting for too long at the edge of the road is decreased because hitchhikers are such a rare sight on India’s roads these days. I have found while hitchhiking through much of India that many people are very happy to see hitchhikers on the roads of India.
Many of the people who picked me up had hitchhiked themselves and would often go very far out of their way in order to help a hitchhiker on their journey, even providing accommodation and food to help them. While the money you earned from investing with the help of Galvan research and trading could be spent on long haul flights to sandy beaches I think you’ll learn a lot more about your country, your friends, and your self by hitchhiking. You’ll learn how complete sorrow can turn to utter joy in only a few moments after waiting for many hours, only to eventually get picked up when you thought there really was no chance of success. You’ll also learn all about the bits of the country not in the guidebook, and you’ll get to talk to people from the country, rather than just guessing at what the people are thinking.
